ACG次元网

This award recognises initiatives that achieve outstanding social sustainability outcomes. The award will focus on planning for communities - in other words, planning for people. It will recognise initiatives that support the health, wellbeing and diversity of the community and enhance ACG次元网 projects and social outcomes. This award recognises the role of planning in improving access to social infrastructure for residents in cities, regions and towns. The award will celebrate great social planning that assists and supports community cohesion, safety, and supports the culture of diversity.

It is awarded for work by a planner, planning organisation, government organisation or a member of the community for a policy, scheme, project, process or event that demonstrates how a thorough understanding of the needs, cultural inclusiveness and aspirations of a community is integral to sound planning and desired social outcomes.

ACT Nominee: ACT Gender Sensitive Urban Design Framework and Toolkit

ACT Government, PLACE Laboratory, OCULUS Communication Link Inhabit Place

The ACT Gender Sensitive Urban Design Framework and Toolkit demonstrated excellence in best practice for how urban spaces can be effectively designed to be inclusive, accessible, and safe to all members of the community. The Framework and supporting Toolkit demonstrated an innovative approach to how gender sensitive urban design can be integrated into planning for the public realm and positive social outcomes on the ground.


NSW Nominee: Rebuild Cobargo

DunnHillam in collaboration with SJB Planning NSW and CCDC (Cobargo Community Development Corporation)

The 2019-20 bushfires were unprecedented in their extent and intensity and the impacts were felt in many communities in New South Wales. Cobargo was one of the communities that was hit hardest with lives lost and a significant number of the historic buildings damaged or destroyed along the main street of the historic South Coast village. The Rebuild Cobargo project engaged with the community to design a new town centre, such that it caters to the needs of a contemporary community with a nod to the past and an eye on the future.


QLD Nominee: The Buzz at Yarrabilba

Queensland Government, Logan City Council, Brisbane Catholic Education and Lendlease

The Buzz at Yarrabilba is an inclusive, engaging and responsive place that integrates a community centre, leasable rooms, multipurpose spaces, youth space, training room, outdoor spaces, and includes TAFE Qld as a lessee. It is also operated on an outcomes-based model - meaning operations are accountable and focussed on delivering long-term impacts for the community.


TAS Nominee: Brighton Social Infrastructure Plan

Brighton Council, Ethos Urban and theCommunityCollaborative.

The Brighton Social Infrastructure Plan (BSIP) provides a framework that will support the delivery of appropriate social infrastructure in one of Tasmania’s fastest growing municipalities out to the year 2042. The project team successfully utilised quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate community aspirations, existing assets, demographic trends, challenges and opportunities.


WA Nominee: Co-designing and co-creating public places with young people

RAC, Town of Port Hedland, Shire of Trayning and Town Team Movement

This project is an inspiration to regional communities struggling to entertain and retain young people and marginalised communities; placing youth in the centre of community and decision making to build meaningful civic engagement.

The project sees youth from predominantly Indigenous background at the centre, delivering tangible long-term outcomes through co-design and co-delivery, and providing a springboard to ongoing volunteerism, community leadership and ownership of place.
