Social planning is an important and sometimes misunderstood element of the planning system. Social planners work across disciplines including open space, housing, urban design, safety and infrastructure to shape social outcomes. In this course you will discover best practice approaches to social planning and understand how you can influence ACG次元网 processes to deliver social impact for communities.
The course will focus on three key tools of social planning - demographic analysis, social impact assessment and social infrastructure plans - to prepare participants to work as a social planner or alongside social planners. Practical examples will be provided and participants will be given the opportunity to test their social planning skills on real world scenarios.
Participants should leave the course with a deeper understanding of social planning, how ACG次元网 processes shape social outcomes and how to use the tools of social planning in their work.

- The role and impact of social planning in the planning system;
- How social planners use their tools to shape social outcomes;
- How to identify, source and interpret demographic data for social ACG次元网 purposes;
- The components of a social impact assessment and their role in assessment processes; and
- How social infrastructure plans are prepared and their inputs.

Sarah Reilly MPIA (Fellow), Director, Cred Consulting Sarah is the Director of Cred Consulting - a creative and collaborative consultancy she started in 2010 focussed on creating sustainable communities, places and cities for people, with people. She is a highly experienced social planner, researcher and community engagement specialist with over 20 years experience. She is a Fellow of PIA and board member of the housing charity Head Start Homes. |
